The downtown in Fairhope is nice, but where do residents do their shopping? Also, and this might be a silly question, how far of a drive is Fairhope from Spanish Fort? We do not want to be in a neighborhood with a lot of rentals once we do buy something. We are looking for a small town feel, and atmosphere, but I do not want to have to drive more than 15 min or so to get to grocery stores, Target, etc. I have been able to research the shopping seems to be mostly in Spanish Fort. We've been to Fairhope, and it was lovely, but we were on vacation, and not looking at it as a permanent place to live at the time. Like I said, we have been focusing on Fairhope, Daphne, and Spanish Fort because of the schools. Any hospitals better for delivering at? I know I'll need a repeat c-section.Ĥ. I've been considered "high-risk" with my last 2 pregnancies and am concerned about leaving my doctors here and need to find an excellent ob-GYN there. How is care for these conditions there? Any recommendations for pediatricians in the area? Also, once we are settled, we are planning on having another baby. My husband has ADHD, and I'm fairly certain our son does as well. Would we be better off looking in Mobile for work?ģ. Do hospitals there require a bachelor's degree? I've looked into Thomas Hospital and the hospital in Foley, and it seems like Thomas Hospital is considered "better." Is this true? Anybody know how nurses are paid there? My husband has 10 years experience and I have 8, so we are hoping to find jobs relatively easily. Like I said, we are both RN's and we both have our bachelor's degrees in nursing. Our hope was to rent a house for a while until we can really figure out the best place for us to be permanently, and I'm wondering if where our rental is wil affect where I have to send him to preschool.Ģ. If I am, then would he go to the pre-K for our district as he would regular elementary school and high school? Where we live, I can pick any preschool I want regardless of where we live. Is that correct? It's not like that here, so I'm trying to figure out if I'm understanding correctly. My oldest son will be 4 and need to be enrolled in preschool for Fall 2016 from what I've read it seems like pre-K is offered at the elementary schools there. I'm interested in knowing if one school district overall is superior to the others, or if they are all comparable. I've done a lot of research on schools, and that has led us to think we will primarily focus our search in the Fairhope, Daphne, and Spanish Fort areas. We are hoping to be down there by Summer 2016 at the latest, and will be coming down on some short trips before then to look into places to live and interview for jobs. We hate the snow, and cold, and we are all ready for a lifestyle change. My husband and I have been there several times in the last few years, and have finally decided to just go for it and move down there. My family has been visiting Gulf Shores and Orange Beach since I was a little girl, approx since 1992. We are from the Chicago suburbs, where we both were born and raised. First, here's a little background info: my husband and I are both Registered Nurses, and we have 2 small kids and a dog. Hi, my family is planning to move to the area in the next few months (as soon as we can sell our current house) and I have a lot of questions.
